Day Trip to Tiger's Nest Monastery
A three hour climb uphill to one of the most important historical and cultural icon of Bhutan is a perfect way to sync in with nature and soak in the fresh air amid pristine green vegetation. Taktsang Monastery stands precariously on a vertical cliff and is one of the cultural hotspot not only for the visiting tourists but also for the Bhutanese.
A luxury car and your English speaking Bhutanese guide will pick you up from your hotel at around 8 - 8:30 in the morning and you will drive for a few minutes across the Paro Valley till you reach the base of the mountain. Taktsang Monastery is about three hours climb uphill from the base and if you are not up to the hike then we there will be riding ponies already arranged. Tea and snacks will be arranged at a cafeteria mid way. Visit the various temples housing very sacred statues and relics as your guide explains the significance of it all. It is believed that a visit to a scared Monastery will cleanse you of your sins and will bless you for a happy, peaceful and productive life. Walk all the way down to the base, where your lunch will be served in a modern style in the open forests. Your vehicle and guide will drop you off at the hotel.
